Automotive program experience

I enrolled in the Automotive Technology program last spring. The online application was easy to navigate, and I heard back about my acceptance within a week. When I had a question about the tool list, I called student services, and they were helpful, answered my questions right away. The facility for the automotive program was well-equipped, and the instructors were experienced mechanics who really taught practical skills. They went over diagnostics and repair techniques in detail, which is what I needed. The only minor inconvenience was that some of the required textbooks were on backorder for a couple of weeks, but the instructor provided handouts in the meantime. Overall, a good experience for learning a trade.

Cosmetology classes went great!

So I just finished up the Cosmetology program here, and it was pretty cool. The teachers were super nice and really showed us all the tricks. I got my financial aid sorted out pretty quick with their help, which was a huge relief. I learned a ton about hair and makeup, stuff I can actually use to get a job. It felt like a good vibe there, everyone was friendly.

Good Phlebotomy Program, application was a bit slow

I completed the Phlebotomy program last fall. The hands-on training was really thorough, and the instructors knew their stuff. I felt prepared for my certification exam after. The financial aid process was straightforward enough, and I got a state grant which helped a lot. My only small issue was that the initial application response took longer than I expected, about two weeks for an update. Otherwise, a solid experience for the cost.

Consistent quality in Welding

This was my second program at MTECH; I did the Automotive course a few years back and just finished Welding Technology. I came back because I had a good experience before, and they didn't disappoint. The welding instructors were just as knowledgeable and hands-on as I remembered from auto. The equipment was up-to-date, and I really liked how they focused on industry standards. The financial aid department was also consistent in helping me apply for another scholarship. It's reliable for getting practical skills, that's why I keep coming back.

Are classes all year round or do they have specific start times for programs like medical assisting?

P Paula 1 month ago
From what I remember, they have like three main start times. August, January, and then another one in the summer, May or June. Just depends on the program though.

Pretty sure they have multiple entry points throughout the year. Not like a traditional university semester system, more flexible.

Is MTECH accredited? Like, if I take classes there, will it actually count for something?

D Derek N. 2 months ago
Totally accredited, yeah. It's a proper technical college.

Yep, they're accredited. That means your certificates and stuff are legit for employers.

Can high schoolers actually get tuition waived? Or is that just for certain programs?

B Ben 2 months ago
I think high school students can get a waiver, but you gotta check the specific requirements. It's usually for concurrent enrollment stuff.

Yep, my nephew did it last year. Saved a bunch of money. Talk to their admissions, they'll tell you how.

Trying to compare MTECH with SLCC for IT. Anyone have thoughts on which is better for getting a job faster?

S Sarah 1 month ago
MTECH is way more hands-on, like straight into what you need for a job. SLCC might be more general studies alongside the tech stuff.

My cousin went to MTECH for IT and got hired super quick. They focus hard on job placement, afaik.

Thinking about the welding program, but not sure if I can afford it. Do they have anything to help with tuition?

M Mike Ito 2 months ago
Yeah, definitely. They have a ton of financial aid stuff. Look into FAFSA, that's usually the first step.

My buddy got a scholarship there, covered a good chunk. You gotta apply for it, it's not automatic, but it's worth it.

are there any promo codes or anything for applying? like a free application or something?

M Marcus Bennett 2 months ago
Nah, they don't do promo codes like a retail store. Financial aid is through FAFSA and scholarships, not discount codes.
2
G Greg B. 2 months ago
MTECH doesn't use those types of codes. You just apply for financial aid if you need help with costs.
